What makes your practice different than any other dental practice I can visit?
Many things make us different. First, our practice offers the best and most proven general and cosmetic dentistry services available today. We back these with the finest materials, products, tools, and labs in the nation.
The focus of our practice is your comfort. We know your teeth may be sensitive, so we strive to be gentle. We also offer a variety of amenities, such as music, to help you relax. We also offer nitrous oxide to make your visit comfortable. Often referred to as laughing gas, nitrous can help anyone who is excessively nervous about their visit, has a sensitive gag reflex, or requires surgery or other complex operations.
The one thing that makes us different is we listen to what you have to say. We feel one of the easiest ways to help you relax is to talk to our dental team about your concerns. Everyone on our team is extremely friendly and they are always happy to listen to what you have to say or talk you through a procedure.
To experience what truly makes us different, however, call our office at 404-892-2097 to schedule your first appointment.

I really don't like visiting the dentist. Is there anything you can do to help me relax?
We can tell when people are nervous about being in a dentist’s office. Nothing seems to help them relax. We feel one of the easiest ways to help you relax is to talk to our dental team about your concerns. Everyone on our team is extremely friendly and they are always happy to listen to what you have to say or talk you through a procedure. More importantly, they’re gentle – we know your teeth may be sensitive. If we can’t treat you and be pain-free, we offer nitrous oxide to make your visit comfortable.

I'm a new patient. Can I get copies of any forms that you need me to complete, prior to my visit?
We’re happy to provide you with all the necessary new patient forms prior to your first appointment. Simply click on “New Patient Information” and choose the appropriate forms from the listing provided. From there, you can quickly print the forms you need. If you don’t have Adobe Acrobat Reader, you’ll find that we provide a free download version for your convenience. Or if you prefer, just call our office and we will mail them to you. |
Can you show me a personalized example of how my smile can look before I choose to undergo treatment?
Yes. Our office has a digital imaging system, a special computer that enhances images of your smile to show you what we can do to enhance and improve it.
When you want to change the appearance of your smile, we take several photos of your smile with our digital camera. From there, we’ll ask you questions about what you like and don’t like about your smile. Using that information, we can create a graphic image that accurately demonstrates how a procedure will affect your mouth as well as your entire expression. It's a fun process and produces excited smiles all around. It also gives us a starting point so that we can make changes on the computer until we have designed the perfect smile for you.

How do I know when it's time to come in for a checkup?
The amount of time between visits to our practice, however, depends on the state of your teeth. An average healthy adult who brushes and flosses regularly may require a check-up every six months. When you visit our office, we'll establish an appropriate treatment plan for you based on the findings of our comprehensive examination.

How can I safely whiten my teeth?
These days, whitening is very popular and many of our patients ask about the best ways to whiten their teeth. Dr. Ross recommends two whitening products that he has seen offer the best results: Zoom II, a light-activated bleaching system that whitens your teeth in a single appointment, and UltraDent, an at home bleaching tray system.
Since each mouth is unique, however, Dr. Ross needs to evaluate your teeth to recommend a specific method. If your teeth are cracked, chipped, or discolored, he may recommend restorative services, such as veneers or bonding.

My gums bleed after I brush. Is this something to be concerned about?
Yes! You should be very concerned about bleeding gums, especially if you haven’t had a check-up in a while. Bleeding gums can be caused from a variety of factors, from the minor (brushing too hard) to the very serious (gum disease). Since we won’t know until we see you, Dr. Ross recommends that you call us as soon as possible to schedule an appointment so we can analyze the cause.

My breath has a terrible odor, even though I brush every day. What can I do about it?
Bad breath is extremely common – unfortunately, many people are embarrassed to talk about it. Before we can suggest a treatment method, we need to examine your mouth and talk to you about your brushing technique. Sometimes, the odor may indicate that you need older dental work replaced. Other times, you may simply need to change the way you brush. But don’t live with bad breath – it’s a relatively simple problem we can fix. |
Crowns, veneers, onlays, inlays and partials…where can I learn more about these procedures?
If you’re teeth are chipped, cracked, discolored, or missing, Dr. Ross may recommend one of these restorative procedures as part of a permanent restoration. They are more durable, easy on your mouth, and aesthetic looking.
You can learn more about these procedures on our Patient Education page. The American Dental Association also has a lot of information on these procedures and others. You can access their information at www.ada.org.
If you have additional questions about these treatments, talk to Dr. Ross. At our practice, we feel direct, open communication between dentist and patient is necessary to provide you with the services you need. Dr. Ross enjoys listening to your question and can provide further information on any of these procedures.

Do I really have to floss every day?
Yes. Flossing is truly critical for your overall oral health. Brushing cleans about 80% of your teeth while flossing covers the remaining 20%. Although that seems like a small percentage, this area is where all of the big problems originate. That’s why Dr. Ross believes cleaning this area is very important. When you come to our office, our dental hygiene team can discuss the benefits of flossing and show you how to improve your technique.

I want my front teeth to look better, but I don't want to wear braces. Can you help me?
Dr. Ross has a number of ways to improve the look of your front teeth without the use of unsightly braces. For slightly crooked or unevenly worn teeth, a bit of reshaping may be all that is needed. If they are rotated or crowed, a clear retainer can be used to straighten them out instead of braces. For teeth that are really worn or crooked, or if the color is not perfect after bleaching, then porcelain veneers may be the best choice. This is a thin leaf of porcelain that is permanently cemented to your teeth. This is the best way as it gives you total control over how your smile will look when we are finished. Dr. Ross has porcelain veneers on his front teeth and loves them.
